Southern Spring Fling Poncho

search

"I’m just like everyone else and sometimes want to crochet a simple project. I know how much everyone loves my poncho, so I designed the Southern Spring Fling! The yarn is called the Juniper Moon Farm Zooey yarn and with the cotton and linen blend which makes for a very light weight project! There is “texture” to the yarn too. I’m not sure I would say true “roving” but there are some thicker and thinner places in the yarn which I love."

Easy

Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook

Yarn Weight(2) Fine (23-26 stitches to 4 inches)

I love finding projects from this designer. If not an original design she will use a new type or brand of yarn. I learn something new from her each time I visit her post. I am really interested in the Juniper Moon Farm Zooey yarn but right now it is out of my price range. If I did the math correctly, this item will cost at least $75. Needless to say, I will be shopping and waiting for a great sale to buy this yarn.

What a beautify poncho. It really could be worn during the hotter summer days because of the open weave. I really do not like the green/yellow of this color yarn but that can easily be remedied with a different color selection. Thanks for the free pattern.

This pattern is available for free via the designers website / blog. It is available in two parts, the main poncho is part one and the border is part two. Luckily for me I found this after she had already published part two, so I didnt have to wait for it like some of the ones that found it early on.

Oh my word, this is such a beautiful poncho! The light, open work of the design is ideal for cooler spring or fall temperatures and as we are about to experience fall here in southern Africa finding this poncho pattern right now is perfectly timeous for me. Juniper Moon Farm Zooey yarn is not available here but I am sure to find a suitable substitute so off I go to the yarn store, lol!

I truly appreciate the even though I cannot get this specific yarn here, she provides a link to the Skein Shop where they apparently offer free shipping, too! This is such an exciting project for spring AND summertime- use it as a cover-up poolside. Linen and cotton blend in this yarn to give a natural and random weave to the strands, or so we are told. When I stumbled across this new pattern offered here, I got so excited! I would love to have one of these as my own. It could not be simper to make, too, with just your double crochets and spaces in between.
