Holly Berry Stocking

search

The Holly Berry Stocking is a beautiful heirloom piece that you and your family will cherish for years to come! Featuring the Berry Stitch, it makes a raised bump that looks like polka dots. It’s a two row pattern repeat, and is made by starting at the toe and working towards the cuff. Make it in the traditional red and white or in your favorite colors. Add some fur to the cuff or leave it off, it’s up to you to customize your stocking.

There is so much texture in this project. The designer included photos for directional purposes and I just love the blue/green combination she used. I love the little "pops " in the alternating lines of crochet. These will quickly become family favorites. Because I like to make things individualized, each member will get one in there favorite color. That is, if I hurry.

I love these stockings. I made me and my husband one for Christmas this year. The bobble stitch was a little tricky at first, but after a few tries, I finally mastered it. I had a very hard time finding the fur yarn. None of the stores near me had any in stock and most of the online stores were sold out at the time also. I finally found an online store that had a few skeins in stock and by the time I was ready to work the top of the stocking, the fur yarn was delivered.

Adorable! Just what I need another Christmas stocking pattern. Now I am running out of time and I have to decide which one to crochet so that I will have one for everyone. Hard to decide now with the discovery of this one.

This truly is made to be a family heirloom piece. Look at the lush and expensive look that is achieved by using three (!) different types of yarn all in one project. There is even a link to watch a video tutorial on the proper way to crochet with fur yarn. I have not worked with fur yarn before, but Christmas time seems to be the best time to get started! I could do a stocking in a deep burgundy with a dark brown fur trim!
