I made this hat for my grandaughter when she was a baby and she wants me to make it for her again. Problem is she is 7 now. Any suggestions on how to make it larger for her

I made this hat for my great niece when she was about months old I had to rip out my work at least - times to get the sizing correct I normally increase to stitches for a newborn hat made with light weight yarn and a size G crochet hook Make sure you consult children's hat size measurement charts or better yet measure the circumference of the child's head if possible before you increase this pattern as directed I wish I had kept notes to document what I did to make this cap The cap still turned out rather large for my great niece Also Bernat Baby Jacquards in Cherry Berry is no longer available In fact I was not able to find this yarn anywhere at least years ago when I wanted to make this hat I finally had to substitute Bernat Baby Coordinates in Strawberry color to make this…Read More hat

Hi ETCROCHETS, I'm sorry for difficulty in crocheting this pattern. This is direct from Bernat, and this appears on our site exactly as it does on theirs. I will run this by our tech editor to see if there's anything else that can be done. I'm glad the hat still turned out alright! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

I think you might be misreading the instructions. Round twelve instructs you to SC in each sc. You will have the same number of stitches as round 11. Then alternate the increase row with round 12, increasing every other row until you have 72. Best of luck.

Help, anyone..please?...No matter how many times I do & re-do, I cannot get past round 12, the stitches don't add up. I have triple checked the correct amount of stitches on the previous round as well. 12th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st in first sc. Cont in same manner, alternating 12th round with inc round, increasing 6 sts on every other rnd to 72 (78-84-90) sc. Place marker at end of last rnd.
