Broomstick Lace Crochet Top
The Broomstick Lace Crochet Top is a wonderful summertime top - it works over a simple tank top, or it can be used as a swimsuit coverup. Though the pattern itself is an easy pattern repeat, this pattern's difficulty is ranked a little higher due to the broomstick lace technique. For those unfamiliar with this technique, it's about using something much thicker than your crochet hook (a broomstick handle or, in this instance, larger knitting needles) to create the larger spaces to crochet into. It's not a difficult technique, but it can take some getting used to.
In the designer's own words, "this lovely broomstick lace top works up with worsted weight yarn and a size H crochet hook. Pictures will help guide you as you crochet. Using two Size 35 knitting needles, you will create two pieces which are seamed together to make the top. This lovely, trendy top is perfect for warmer weather!"
Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

Well it looks like I have to bite the bullet and learn thus stitch. I have wanted to use it many times but was afraid it would be too hard to figure out. I read thru the directions and it's not really hard, it just takes a little time to learn his to do it.

A quick glance at this Broomstick Lace Crochet Top gives me a feel of summer. Its airiness, the comfy look, and the stitch used make me look forward to the warm summer months. It seems like this top is giving me an assurance that it's not gonna be as hot because I can wear something comfy like this lace top. I love broomsick lace and this top is beautiful, and the shaping looks fairly simple if you can get a hang of the broomstick lace , which seems like it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Mama in a stitch has tons of free patterns but i think this is my favorite of her many designs.

I do not know about you but I just love broomstick crochet designs. Love this great design, kudos to clever designer Jessica from mamainastitch.com! There is just enough warmth left in our very late summer days here in South Africa to wear this and I can not wait to get started. The yarn is easily available here so I will be at my local yarn store first thing tomorrow morning, lol!

The broomstick lace stitch is a great stitch for making light and airy projects. This top would be perfect for Florida as it is hot most of the year here. Love its look and would love to have a couple to layers over tank tops or even my bikini when I head out to the keys to lounge by the pool and walk on the beach.

I love doing the Broomstick lace and this broomstick lace crochet top looks so cute! After reading the pattern and watching some of the videos, it is a easy pattern. All I have to do now is figure out what color yarn to buy.. I use a real broom stick to do the lace pattern. I took a old broom stick and sanded it down to make it smooth. It works so much better then using two large knitting needles taped together. Thank you for this free pattern.. Love it!!
