"I wanted something fun and whimsical for my sunroom and my Patriotic Mobile came to life. It takes very little yarn, 9 small bells and the inner hoop of a two-piece wood loop set at Hobby Lobby. And, the red, white and blue yarn came from Hobby Lobby as well, too (I Love This Yarn). I used a 5 mm hook. This can be made in less than a few hours and I'm sure it will give you a delightful smile once completed just as it has done for me."
Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

This idea just says Kids Craft to me! Depending on the skill level, you could work up some or all of the individual parts and let the kids be in charge of assembly. If you want to emphasize recycling, you could cut rings from an old bleach bottle instead of buying a wooden hoop. Since the attachments are all made of yarn, nothing should be too heavy for the recycled ring.
