Citrus Slice Granny Square
Citrus Slice Granny Square

"This sweet granny square motif is perfect for baby blankets and beach bags. It can use up all sorts of bright scraps. Each square finishes at about 6" when using an "I" hook and aran weight yarn. I plan on making a whole pile of the citrus segments with all of my pink, green, yellow, and orange scraps. I will use light blue scraps on half of the blocks and Lion Brand Pound of Love in Denim for the other half. The final layout will alternate denim blue with light blue backgrounds. I have no plans for the finished size, although most of my blankets end up the length of my coffee table, aka 40” baby blankets."

If creating a entire blanket or lapgan is not what you want, this would be the perfect granny square to make some pillows to brighten up the decor during the warm summer months or a table runner if you are adventurous and want something new on the outside table.

This would be a perfect granny square to add to any summer time blanket. With the ability to have differ color centers, the possibilities are endless. This would be a refreshing beach blanket to bring to the beach.

When I think of citrus, summer comes more to mind than winter. Summer means jugs of fresh squeezed lemonade and sweet tea, and these slices remind me of coasters to put those welcome glasses on! The Granny Squares are okay, but I cant really think of a good use for them. The slices, on the other hand, can be easily worked with an extra edge and make marvelous coasters.

This is a really cute pattern. I really like it. The name got my attention. Mainly because I live in Citrus County. I am thinking of all kinds of uses for this. Maybe make four of them, with each one in a different fruit color. Pink and yellow grapefruit, lime, lemon, etc. turn connect them for a wall hanging!

Now these citrus granny squares can be used for many things! Since they are worked using the I Love This Cotton! yarn, I think they would be suitable as a trivet or hot pad on the table. But maybe add a second layer of a solid color for the back. They would make awesome coasters, of course! Make an entire kitchen set using these. Like a table runner or a center piece in addition to the aforementioned. Nice work!
