Seascape Scarf Crochet Pattern

Mossy greens mixed with small hints of cool blues make up this breathtaking Seascape Scarf Crochet Pattern. Perfect for beginners, this easy project is quick to work up and easy to remember since it only uses chains, single and double crochet stitches. This crochet scarf would look great with a light fall jacket, but, as the designer notes, "this sweet crochet scarf also makes a great warmer weather scarf. I like to use a cotton yarn and a loose stitch, to give it that wonderful drape. Perfect for gift giving!"

This is the first scarf pattern Ive come across that asks the crafter to cut all the fringe first. It makes sense though. That way you are sure to have enough when you finish off the scarf itself. The scarf instructions are no mystery either as its made entirely from Double Crochet. What is interesting is the choice of cotton as the yarn instead of acrylic or wool. That would definitely affect the movement of the garment.

I love the variegated colors of this seascape scarf. Since the simple to understand pattern only uses chains and double crochet stitches, it is just perfect for beginners. I wanted to try using a larger size hook and this pattern calls for L/11. I hope to find the same or similar color yarn to make this lovely scarf.

You know what I really like about the look of this "Seascape Scarf"? I like the way the fringe turned out all ripple-y and wavy. I wonder if the yarn comes out of the skein like that or if she did something special to it to get that effect? Is the Patagonia yarn 100% cotton or is it a blend? Could I achieve the same effect with the Sugar n' Cream?
