"Are they coasters or are they scrubbies? They don't know and neither do I! Either way they are adorable and will add great farmhouse style to your home. You can easily whip up a few of these in an afternoon. They'd look great on your craft fair table or wrapped with a little twine as a housewarming gift. Skills to know include magic ring, working in the round, single crochets and chains. Pattern calls for 100% cotton yarn."

After looking at the other projects in this set, I can understand the confusion. I love the sunburst motif created in the initial design. But if I were to work these up strictly to be used as coasters, I would include one more additional Single Crochet round at the end of the instructions. If you work it so its the same number of stitches as the final row, it creates a slight lip to keep the glass in place.

I would love to make these with a youth group or something like that. I think they are simple enough for those who have never crocheted- it may take a couple of days to make a set of four. But they are fun AND functional! Customize them by choosing your gift recipient's favorite colors, or colors to match their kitchen or dining room.
