"The pillows were designed to play off the Betsy Ross version of the American Flag. The colors are antique and the 13 stars have been condensed to a quarter of the original circle. This pillow set was originally designed to go with the Old Glory American Flag Afghan crochet pattern that is also available. This pattern uses only easy stitches. There is some minor sewing (using yarn and a tapestry needle) to sew the stars into place. These pillows would make an amazing and thoughtful gift to any proud patriot, Veteran or active service member!"
Crochet HookF/5 or 3.75 mm hook, I/9 or 5.5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Crochet Gauge7 Suzette stitches and 13 rows in a 4” (10cm) square.
Finished Size16.5” x 16.5” each

It is almost officially summer and on the fourth day of July, we here in America celebrate our independence. What a beautiful way to show your patriotism but having this pillows set out for the holiday. The pattern is really simple and a beautiful addition to display all year long.

I am one of those people that just love pillows. It is almost impossible to find any seating surface in my home without at least one pillow adorning the spot. I have yet to make pillows to display for the Fourth and these will work up really quickly. I can have both of these made if I start on them this week. Thanks for the free pattern.

You are such a god send. Last Christmas I crocheted an afghan for my aunt from a pattern I found on this site. It was very similar in that it looked like the 1776 flag. I was wondering what special thing I could make this year. She loved the afghan and has it on the back of her Sof. These will be perfect companions.

Single crochet, double crochet, and skip stitch. You can repeat this over and over without even thinking of this. It's enough of a different stitch to please those who are more experienced, and something a little more of a challenge for those who are straight up beginners. My mom would love it if I made a set of these 16" pillows for her sofa. She loves her patriotic decor in the home. Thank you for these pillow patterns!

I will display these proudly in any room of my house. As the daughter of a veteran that found in three wars, I appreciate what the military men and woman have done for this country and know firsthand of the pressures and stress it puts on the families. This is a great pattern. Beautiful job.
