I love the ability to make a useful artificial with minimal material. This project is completed with a single cake of yarn. The most difficult part, selecting the cake to make these adorable summer stripe tote bags.

Not a great big bag but just right and enough for the summer. Having the opportunity to take a last minute road trip or just an outing with the family requires to bring a bag of essentials. This is a summer stripe tote is the perfect size for the mission. The colors are spunky and fun too.

Such a great design! I cannot wait to try this pattern using a couple of Bernat Pop yarns that my mom gave me. The color is Snow Queen, Pink, Lavendar, teal, and white. That would make a cute little girls tote. But I would like to get some of the beautiful Caron Cake colors.

This is a very easy project. It's simple stitches that turn glamorous when done in self shading yarn. I make and sell crochet purses on line so I know what is popular. This is trendy. And I always line my purses. It halos them to hold their shape and adds a bit of class to them.

These can really be customized to suit your needs by your choice of handles. These totes are only 13 X 13 so if you are like me, you can easily enlarge by increasing the number of stitches in the beginning chain.

What fun colors for a summer tote bag! I would advise to block this bag before use or to add a cotton liner on the inside to keep your crochet work from stretching out and becoming misshapen. For me, the faux leather handles are the way to go, or even a cute heavy nautical rope tied in knots at the ends.

Ive used that self striping yarn plenty of times, but never thought about using it in a tote project. I also like that the striping is vertical rather than the horizontal usually found with self striping projects. Its worked flat, so it also lends itself to some fun customizing with appliqus, ribbons, funky buttons or anything else. Souvenir pins would be fun, too.
