This is exactly the sort of project I like to work up with my crochet students. My seniors love making gifts for their grandchildren and great grandchildren, and my youngest students are happy to make something they can use. Granny Squares only require basic stitches but still expand their skills, especially when they need to make two identical squares. I like to compare them to practicing your piano scales!
