Snowflake Penguin Ami

"I’ve wanted to design a penguin amigurumi for a while now - I just love penguins, especially during the winter. I combined my love of tapestry crochet to make a fun and quick penguin pattern you could make into an ami or you could leave flat as a hot pad (don’t stuff it, use cotton yarn) or leave 1/3 of it open and you have an adorable purse! It’s totally up to you how you want to make this ami fit your lifestyle."

Awww, who could look at that face and not smile? My grand daughter is a penguin freak. Living in central Florida, she has had the opportunity to see live ones up close at the adventure parks. I am going to try this in pink to go with her bedroom. Thank you

At first glance, I was under the impression it was a tiny amigurumi thing that fits in you hand. But it is actually a fairly sizeable piece of work. Her designs always impress me, with her love of tapestry crochet showing up on all her design offerings. Have you tried tapestry crochet before? What has been your biggest challenge? Inquiring minds want to know, like me.

What a cute snowflake penguin. I could always use another pillow to decorate the house during the winter months and this one would fit into the decor in the guest bedroom. That's right the guest bedroom gets decorated during the holiday in a winter wonderland of blues and snowflakes. A new addition for next year.

The picture on this page is deceptive. I was thinking the final project was maybe 4 x 3. Wow! on the direction page I can see that this crochets up much larger. I have a tendency to not read but rely on the photos. I am going to have to stop that. On this page the dimensions were provided. At any rate, I love this design.

I have been waiting for this one! I spotted it on the side of another project page and have been searching for it ever since. The designer has several suggestions about how to use this clever Tapestry project, but I had one in mind as soon as I first saw it. Wouldnt it be the PERFECT cover for a hot water bottle? Or if you dont want to deal with water, make it into a rice bag.
