Ive made this headband a few times now, and the only substantial change I made was ditching the chain and single crochet start, and going with a foundation half double instead. Its much easier for me to work, plus I can work fewer rows for the strip. Do watch the recommended video showing how to weave the strip together. This is the method that I use, and it absolutely works.
