Row 1: With white, ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hk and each ch across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3: Sc in first 6 sts, changing to black in last st, sc in last 10 sts. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 4: Sc in first 10 sts, changing to white in last st, sc in rem 6 sts. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 5: Sc in each st across, changing to back in last st. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 6: Sc in first 10 sts, changing to white in last st, sc in rem 6 sts. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 7: Sc in first 6 sts, changing to black in last st, sc in remaining 10 sts, change to white in lasts st. Ch 1 and turn.
Rows 8-10: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 11: Sc in each st across changing to black in last st. Ch 1 and turn.

This is such a unique gift idea for the music lover or keyboard player in the family. You could even gift this to your kid's music teacher or band teacher. I don't usually like having to change colors so often, but that's just me. In the end I think it would be worth it. It's just double crochets from the looks of it, too.

I know it's early to start making Christmas gifts but after reading thru the pattern, it's just too easy to pass up. My daughter in law is a music teacher at a local middle school so this will be just perfect for her. Thanks for sharing.
