This is the perfect pattern to make for your family and friends who love to read. Now they can have a different color bookmark for several of their books In additional, it does not use much yarn so you can use up the leftover yarn from other projects.

Simple and purposeful, this pattern is perfect for any avid reader. I love the color and the pattern. I would love to give these as gifts to all my friends and family. I would definitely choose a different color for some, because I like a variety. There are so many different options with crochet thread, which is perfect for making a whole set of these!

A simple pattern, but I had to work up the first few rows because something didnt look right. The problem seems to be right at the beginning of the pattern. It calls for ch14, then working the first V stitch in the 6th stitch from the hook. As the chain forms the first DC, it should read ch12, and work the first V stitch in the 4th ch from the hook. The edge directions should include 3 SC in the top of each V on the end, too.

Ooh, a nice and easy bookmark pattern with a bit of zing. Love it. The possibilities are endless in terms of yarn and adornments. Or just leave it as is. Can't wait to make a bunch for friends, family and, of course, myself :)

Until reading the comments below I hadn't thought of making bookmarks for the guys...very cool! I'm thinking I might add a cord to the top center stitch to hang from the book so the marker doesn't get soiled so easily. Great project, thanks!!

I find it very immature, unimaginative and inconsiderate to call the bookmark plain and "not pretty". Shows a lack of manners-if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything!! As for the bookmark, while it is a simple pattern it would definitely suit men or even ladies who aren't into the fancy, frilly items.

I have been crocheting bookmarks also. I add a lacy border ( chain 5 single crochet and slip stitch in every other stitch. I also add beads or fringe. Great gifts. I make up patterns from items I have made and let your imagination go wild.

Not every bookmark has to be "pretty". This one is plain, true, but would have more appeal to the males in the family. Remember, not everyone likes frilly stuff.

I think the symbolism behind the bookmark is interesting. Yes the pattern is simple, but the meaning behind the gift holds the impact. After all, beauty is only skin deep, but thoughtful is to the bone.
