Wow! What a classy looking bag! I really like the ombre brown colors it has going on here and the color spectrum of this raffia would allow you to chooses from several different schemes. I never used raffia before so that would be a first for me. From what I've read in the comments here it sounds like maybe I should put this on my "try later" list. I love having projects waiting for my skill level to catch up. It encourages me to keep creating!

I think that this project should have been labeled for advanced crocheters. Raffia is very difficult to work with, difficult to find, and the stitches used in this project are a little confusing. I am guessing that the designer says that it easy to work because she has probably done this so many times now.

What a nice and smart-looking bag. Having never worked with rafia yarn, this pattern has me intrigued. I like the neutral yet bold color combination and the contrasting patterned ribbon detail in animal print! Surface crochet, as a technique, is not difficult. It may seem a little strange to crochet this way but you get the hang of it in no time.
