I have never done this stitch. It has intimidated me from the very first time I laid eyes on it. Some say it's hard, others say easy. I guess there's only one way to find out. If no one hears from me it means I am tied up in a big ball of yarn on the sofa!

I can't wait to make this Pretty Pink Mermaid Shawl. I am currently making a scarf using the crocodile stitch and it is coming out beautiful. I love the challenge of beginning with one stitch and then increasing, but the written pattern supported with the pictures make it easy to follow. I also love that it uses a lighter weight yarn.

Wow! I've never seen anything like this before! The layered look of this stitch makes it look soooo cool. I bet it's really warm too because of that layering effect. I guess that layered look is probably what gives it its the scales on a crocodile's hide. I thought it would be difficult but others on here say no. This novice is grateful for all the pictures the artist included!

Mermaid or crocodile, whichever one you want to call it, I love this stitch. This pastel shade really makes the stitch look very feminine mermaid. However if you elect to use something a little bolder it could give off the impression of that cranky crocodile.

I think I love this just because it is crocheted in my favorite color, pink. This pattern looks so complicated but the crocodile stitch is not really that hard to learn. This designer took the time to include a lot of wonderful pictures. Thanks.

This pattern is presented in photo tutorial with a few written instructions added after each photo. It is a little hard to understand at times, but it doable. This is a beautiful and free, I might add, pattern so all those commenters complaining about not wanting the pictures mixed with the written instructions should be thankful to have it.

A fun, fun shawl!! Warm, cozy and fluffy in pink.the shawl is made in a crocodile stitch that look like petals resting on one another. This will be a new stitch for me to learn. Although the pattern seems a bit complicated, this shawl will be worth the time it takes to make.

This is a Pretty Pink Mermaid Shawl. I feel that a beginner could do this one with all the tutorial pictures and written directions. This pattern is very nice and easy to follow and I know if done step by step anyone can make this beautiful Shawl. My Grand daughters will love having this and so will mom. Thank you so much for sharing this crochet pattern.
