Double Salt Shawl

search

"The Double Salt shawl (named after a typical Dutch treat called 'dubbel zoute drop'... look it up if you like!) is a great scarf to make, it's made on the bias, giving it a very special effect. Still, this crochet shawl is fairly easy to make and it's a perfect crochet pattern if you are just a bit more than a beginning crocheter. If you can manage crocheting DC's, increasing and decreasing, this shawl is for you!"

The color scheme used in this Double Salt Shawl is so elegant and speaks of good taste. The combination black and white stripes accentuated with light pink is very unique and deserves a second look. It is soooo beautiful! I thought this shawl is triangular but no, this is another unique feature of this shawl. I think I would like to make this wider if I were to do this project. Cheers!

This is very pretty, but it took working up a swatch before I could understand the instructions. I realize English isnt the designers first language (my grandfather was Dutch, too), but I think the problem is more in the format than the translation. The explanation of how to work the pattern is separated from the English instructions and that adds to the confusion. Very clever though, to use a stitch marker at one end and safety pin at the other.

Wow! I love the look of crocheting on the diagonal. I have always wanted to try and change up how I do things every now and then, for fear that my work will begin to look "same old same old just a different color yarn"! The black and white bold stripes mixed with the touch of red make this a look fit for a more modern gal, and the "on the bias" look will make her stand out amongst the crowd on the subway. Hey, I don't ride the subway but I still wanna stand out and make this one for myself! She works hard at giving us English speaking girls a crack at trying out her patterns and that is greatly appreciated.

This is such a cool shawl! The combination of the pink color with the black stripes is really striking, and the stripes keep it from being too girly while still being bold and colorful.
