The directions for this gemstone lace shawl calls for a Caron cake for the yarn. It does not indicate how many are needed to complete the project. I guess for safety sake I should purchase two.

This is a beautiful shawl made so intricate with the open weave design. The applied edge really makes a big impact statement. It changes the whole look of the shawl's main design to bring the open weave to a close.

I love finding all these patterns that are MADE for the Caron Cakes yarn! For me, this yarn is hard to resist when I'm shopping the aisles at the store. It also goes on sale quite a bit. It is said this is an advanced pattern, but I think I can do it. I usually shy away from anything more than advanced beginner! Make several in many different colors to give as gifts for the holidays. Hey, it's never too early to start planning your projects for holiday gifting!
