Materials List

  • worsted medium weight yarn in yellow
  • cotton crochet thread size 10 in red and black

Instructions

1.With worsted medium weight yarn in yellow and crochet hook H/8-5.00 mm or I/9-5.50 mm – make a Large Heart for the Emoji’s face. (see Instructions for the first Emoji HERE ). 2. With cotton crochet thread size 10 in black and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm – make a Round Eye. Make an adjustable ring. Ch 3, 12 DC into the ring. Draw the loop closed. To make it easier to do, first untwist the tail. Then pull the tail to draw the loop tightly closed. Join with Sl St in top of Ch 3. Fasten off and weave in the ends. 3. With cotton crochet thread size 10 in black and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm – make a Winking Eye. Ch 8, working in back ridge – Sl St into 2nd Ch from hook, SC into each of next 2 Chs, 2 SC into next Ch, SC into each of next 2 Chs, Sl St into last St. Fasten off and weave in the ends. 4. With cotton crochet thread size 10 in black and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm – make Smoochy Lips. Ch 16, working in back ridge of the Chain – Sl St into 2nd Ch from hook, SC into each of next 2 Chs, 3 SC into next Ch, SC into each of next 2 Chs, draw loop through next Ch, skip next Ch, draw loop through next Ch – you have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops, SC into each of next 2 Chs, 3 SC into next Ch, SC into each of next 2 Chs, Sl St into last Ch. Fasten off and weave in the ends. 5. With cotton crochet thread size 10 in red and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm – make a Small Heart. Ch 4; make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St, Ch 1. Fasten off and weave in the ends. 6. Sew Eyes, Lips and Heart on the Emoji’s Face.

Wow. Great emoji project. Will take patience and time to make all these emojis but they look good taking a heart shape for a change.

The designer states that this is THIRD in her Valentine Emoji set, so somehow I have missed the second. This quirky face is so cute!!! Ive finally figured out a few places to use them including making a plain back and whipping them together for some mini pillows. Or adding arms and legs to make little amigurumi critters. LOTS of ideas once I got going.
