"Learn how to make a unique patriotic decoration for your home by crocheting a simple mandala motif and adding a variety of red, white and blue beads. This project works up quickly and is perfect for a confident beginner. Yarn used is Omega's Sinfonia with a size 3.75mm hook. Several plastic and glass faceted beads are attached together with eye pins using basic jewelry techniques - it's easy to do and there is a video tutorial for this step!"

This is one of those projects that appeals to both the crocheter and the crafter sides of me. Although most of our patriotic holidays fall during the summer months, there really isnt any time when this wouldnt be an appropriate gift! If you dont want to do all the beading, it would be easy enough to attach red, white, and blue satin ribbons instead.

This might be easy for a person like me, but I really wonder if a beginner (a "confident beginner") would have fun and enjoy making this. They might be put off with all the extras that are not crochet. Nobody likes to start a project and then lose steam halfway through! But it IS so darn cute and unique! I gotta give credit where credit is due.
