This wonderful beanie is worked flat and then seamed on the side and gathered at the top. I love the additional rows worked into the brim. I was surprised that part was worked flat as well. I have seen similar hats where the brim is worked AFTER the flat rectangle is seamed. It would be easier flat but you can get the same effect if you work each round in the opposite direction.

I really like the look of this Abigail Beanie Hat. The pattern is well done and so easy to whip up and it looks great. I'm not a big fan of doing the whip stitch to close it up. I think if you slip stitch in the front loop on one side to the front loop of the other side, it will make a smoother finished closure. This may also look great with a big pom pom. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet hat pattern.

I think I like this one better than the Sweetberry pink slouchy hat. I am loving this color, and the two toned look that is created by using a slightly darker color around the ribbed brim. I still need practice with sewing up the top of my hats. I want mine to look as perfect as hers do! The HDC with a slip stitch in the following stitch is a great look!
