This How to Crochet a Popcorn Stitch left-handed video tutorial makes mastering this specific crochet stitch a breeze. This stitch is a series of five stitches all worked into one stitch causing a kind of bobble affect. This specific crochet pattern is fantastic for baby blankets and other project types that really thrive on that kind of different unique texture. Plus, this crochet video takes a stitch that looks complicated and makes it a breeze to understand how to complete it. It is best to start with a smaller swatch for this stitch and work your way up to bigger projects!

Instructions to Crochet the Popcorn Stitch

  1. Yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop.

  2. Yarn over pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the final two stitches. This will complete your first double crochet.

  3. Repeat this four more times so you have five stitches.

  4. Pull your hook out of your single loop, but be sure to not pull too hard or lose the loop.

  5. Insert your hook into the first stitch from your five stitches, farthest away from your loop, and insert your hook into that stitch, push your hook back through your loop and pull your loop through the stitch.

  6. Chain one stitch.

  7. Repeat this until you complete your project!
