How to Crochet the Star Stitch
Note: The star stitch is based off an even amount of stitches.
-
Chain odd amount, hdc in first chain and in each across.
-
First stitch: Ch 3, turn; insert hook into the 2nd ch from the hook and pull up a loop. Then do the same in the 3rd chain and then the base stitch, insert hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop. This leaves you with 5 loops on the hook. Do not pull loops tight, keep loose.
-
Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops. Ch 1 to finish off the stitch. First Star made.
-
Each star to end of round: * Insert the hook into the ch 1 just made, and pull up a loop. Insert the hook into the same stitch that the last star stitch was in, yarn over and pull back a loop. Keep all loops on hook. Insert hook into the next st, yarn over and pull back loop. Insert hook into next stitch and pull up loop. This leaves you with 5 loops on hook, do not pull tight. Yarn over, pull through all loops, ch 1 to finish the stitch.
