This breast awareness brooch is just the thing to make to show your support. I have been so blessed within my family not to be touched with that malady but I support research and hope that there will be a cure.

You would think that this would be an easy peasy project. I took the time to read over the directions because I would love to have one of these. I like the addition of the white edge. However, the directions are a little confusing. Has any one attempted to make this?

This ribbon pattern is awesome! My best friend is in charge of a walk for Chiari awareness, and I am thinking this would be the perfect thing for me to make this year. I am thinking I could stiffen the ribbon and attach a magnet to it. This would be a nice little reminder to everyone that attends the walk.

I love the idea of crocheting this one, I'll be making 100 of these broochs to sell at my family members dinner to help raise money for her fight of cancer. WE USE UP LOTS OF LEFTOVER YARNS THAT ARE GIVEN TO OUR GROUP. IT IS WONDERFUL TO MEET ONCE A WEEK WITH THESE LADIES. WE HAVE A MEMBER THAT IS 94 OR 95 YEARS YOUNG AND SHE CROCHETS DAILY. I tried this pattern and it came out fine. I didn't use the markers. Ribbon: 1. (1st 4 chs skiped count as first dc) this is the first double crochet. 2. (2 dc in next ch) 10 times: this mean that you dc twice in ch 1, dc twice in ch 2, dc twice in ch 3, etc. by the time you complete ch10 you should have a total of 20 dc. 3. You should have a total of 40 dc when you are done. Edging: sc in the next 7th dc on oposite end: this mean that you are counting backwards - start on the 7th dc to single crochet then you continue to the 6th, 5th , 4th, etc. This is how I interpreted the written pattern and it came out fine for me.

This looks like a fabulous project to attempt, but it is NOT really appropriate for a beginner that has never crocheted before. I'm slightly more than a beginner and I'd like to add that I am also VERY confused on the pattern instructions like the others who have mentioned it here are. Not only are the abbreviations distracting, but the way the working of the pattern is described is VERY confusing. I'm going to assume that the 3 previous people who commented were not able to get in touch with Ms. Cylinda Matthews? I was hoping there would be an update/edit to the pattern, but it seems to be just as confusing when users "monkeyhart5 8317540", "mgbeheler 6666242", and "welchm1 8598005" read it, as it is today. Is there a crochet pattern for an "awareness ribbon" written especially for beginners? Thanks!

I wonder how to get a message to the creator of this pattern. I am having trouble getting the white edging exactly right. If anyone has any pointers, that would be great.

I also found instructions hard to understand I haven't crocheted in a couple of years so I'm a little rusty Ribbon Problems st chs skipped count as first dc mark first dc Mark that chain or the first real dc dc in next ch ten times mark nd dc of first dc made with a different color marker I think that means to do a total of dc in the ten chains and to mark the second of the but I'm not entirely sure The dc at the end either means the row should now total dc or it means to do more dc attached to the first bunch I think it means total because when I attached the extra the ribbon didn't want to lay flat and it seem too wide Then I think it means that when I lay the piece down vertically with right side up the beginning…Read More slip knot will be at the upper left corner with the foundation chain on the left and the double crochet row on the right Edging I'm not sure what sc in the next th dc means Skip seven Make Typo
