Granny square patterns are some of my favorite because of the endless possibilities of projects that can be made with them. This is wonderful how the apple is created and them made into a granny square. The pictures are excellent and I have added this pattern to my saved folders.

So because it showed in the title as a apple "granny square" I had to click just to see the project. This picture is misleading but when you go to the directions page you will be just as amazed as I was. This is a free quality granny square pattern and I appreciate the share.

These are just so clever! You can complete them and work up the full Granny Square, or leave that part off and you have some perfect apple appliqus. The designer gives detailed instructions and photos showing how to work the project, and theres also an embedded instructional video. I can think off all sorts of uses for these tempting little gems.

These look delicious enough to eat! The variety of the apples that she has offered up as a crochet pattern look so realistic. You work the apple first, and if that is what you want then you stop there. She then goes on to show how to crochet a granny square around it so that you can easily make an afghan! These would be great individually as coasters and given as teacher gifts.
