Flower Power Granny Hexagon

If you know how to crochet a granny square, then you might be ready to add a new twist on the traditional pattern with the Flower Power Granny Hexagon. This pattern has a bright flower in the center of the hexagon that looks like it can be picked. A lace-like design surrounds the flower, while the edges have a pretty blue frame. Consider using this crochet granny hexagon on its own as a potholder, or incorporate it as part of a larger project, such as a bag or blanket. This is an easy pattern that won't take long to make!

What impressed me most about this project is the nicely illustrated set of instructions. The inner flower motif could be completed after Round 4 or 5 if you wanted just a stand alone appliqu. The author suggests different uses for the project, but describe how to join the pieces together for an afghan or other larger piece. I can probably work it out, but for a beginner, this might be a challenge.
