I see this cowl is made with an alpaca blend yarn. Alpaca is very popular at the current time. I recently purchased several skeins in different colors but they were not of bulky weight. Since we live in FL and it doesnt get that cold, I am thinking a no bulky weight yarn would be ok for me to use on this.

Ive never worked with alpaca wool before although I actually have friends who raise them specifically for that purpose. Ive felt items made with alpaca, so I at least have an idea about the texture. The project itself couldnt be easier although I would substitute the initial chain and Row 1 for a Foundation Single Crochet. I find I dont have so many problems with twisting.

I have never made a cowl but I am going to try to make this pattern. I think it will be perfect in a lighter weight yarn. It does not get very cold in my state. Thanks for the pattern.

This is another one very practical ladies accessory that is an essential part of a woman's wardrobe during the cold winter months. It protects both your head and neck area from the cold. Some people are quite sensitive to the cold and would get sick when their neck and head are are exposed to the cold. So if you are one of those people, this piece of accessory could be very useful. It is also a fashion statement in itself. The fashionistas would like to have this for their Fall/Winter collection. You could also make this World's Softest Crochet Cowl in any solid color of your choice, in multicolors or in a color combination.

Thank you for this World's Softest Crochet Cowl for adults, I have made the Baby Hooded Cowl and have been trying to redo it for adults with not much luck. This is a great pattern and I love the longer cowl part. Now I need to go buy the soft yarn and get started on this pattern. I see warmer winters in my future.. Thank you again for sharing this free crochet pattern that is a must here in the North..

Hi, Thanks so much for sharing this pattern. I want to make it for my mom and I haven't crocheted in years. I am having trouble with the number of stitches. When I go from row 3 to row 4, I lose two stitches and end up with 68 instead of 70. I drew the pattern out on a piece of paper and still can't see where I went wrong. If anyone might be able to help me I would really appreciate it. Again, thanks very much.

Sound like you might be skipping the first sc in the first dc. I sometimes miss it because of the chain 2 seems like it is the stitch

can't wait to make this

Love this cowl. Soft, very pretty and easy to make.
