This star stitched head band is a great basic without looking too, too "basic"! The stitch itself is the star of the show here. You don't want to have an overly fancy headband/earwarmer design because that would take away from the star of the show. She picked such a pretty and feminine color. The oversize button is a nice finishing touch.

I love the star stitch! Although I didnt realize it at the time, that was the pattern for my first big crochet projecta pair of baby blankets for my soon to arrive twin girls. Its perfect for this headband/earwarmer because it works up easily and is so warm. I would probably opt for a smaller button though. It would need to be simple like the example. For this project, you want the stitch to be the star.
