Im a little confused about why this project is rated Easy as well. Generally, this tells the crafter that basic and maybe a few slightly advanced stitches will be used. This project calls for much more than thatFront Post, Back Post, Back Loop Only, etc. There also needs to be photos for each step as some of the crossed stitches are not easy to visualize.

Hi Jane, That's a good point, but post stitches and back loops only are still using your basic stitches, you just need to watch where you insert your hook. :) Also, the difficulty setting is set by the blogger when the project is submitted to us. Thanks! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

Thanks for lovely free patterns. Inspiring me yto start a project

Hmmm, quite the extensive directions! Kind of scared me off a little bit. I am surprised that the pattern seems kind of long and is not necessarily an easy read for beginners. The mandala itself is truly beautiful, and is a quite impressive size at over 12 inches in diameter!

This pattern is shown as being rated easy. I personally feel that this would be too challenging for the beginner because it is very time intensive and it uses more than just standard crochet stitches. The instructions are rather long for the size of this project so beginners take note.
