Crochet Bucket Hat aka Fisherman's Hat
Crochet Bucket Hat aka Fishermans Hat

"Also known as the session hat, fisherman’s hat, or Irish country hat, the bucket hat was a popular high fashion item in the ’60s, equally as hip today! This is a great opportunity to pull out those stripes!

Red Heart Stripes was used in this pattern, but others such as Bernat Stripes would work great as well! This hat is so quick and easy to work up, you'll find yourself with 3 or 4 of them before you know it. The written pattern includes photos along with a link to a full video tutorial to make this easy as can be!"

Once you've finish this, check out this Beach Happy Raffia Hat, too!

I must admit, I have never heard it referred to as a bucket hat! When I was young it was a Gilligans hat. But then I am old. It certainly is an easy one to make. I have some camouflage yarn that would make up just great. Mark another male Christmas gift off my list.

Oh how I miss Gilligan's Island! Thanks for your comment mulberrygalprinces s =)

I have always like wearing a bucket hat and with this pattern for the Crochet Bucket Hat aka Fisherman's Hat I can have one in so many colors. This is a great pattern with some well done videos to help you if needed. I really like the look the back loop back loop stitch gives. I've never seen it done before and like how easy it is to do and the effects of the stitch is nice looking. I'll be making a few of these for fishing season. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Thanks so much for your kind comment Cheryl! I had fun making this one and I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the construction of the hat!

Cute fishermans hat. Looks a little like the hat Gilligan wore on the classic tv show Gilligans Island. This pattern also has a link to a video on youtube that can help you work this pattern. It is actually a pretty straight forward pattern and should be easy to make and should not take very long to work.

Thanks so much Hippie Chick for your comment! It is a very easy hat to work up and it's great protection from the sun! (Gilligan's Island... One of my all time favs!)
