"I've always been fascinated by the spider web crochet patterns, looking for them, saving them, in order that one day I would have the time and suitable yarn to make a project using the pattern somehow. I'm glad that the time has come! So here is my new black widow scarf. It took a long time to adjust the webs into the scarf, but the result was nice and worth the effort. It's really easy to crochet as there are only three stitches in the pattern: chain, single crochet, and double crochet stitches. If worked properly, you will see that time will fly, and webs will be constructed faster than a spider's own work. I hope you like it too, and make one of your own, not necessarily in black."
Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Crochet Gauge7 (dc 3 clusters) in 11.5 rows.
Finished Size65 inch / 165 cm long, 9 inch / 23 cm wide.

This looks so intriguing but it is so simple to work up despite the Intermediate designation. You literally are using only basic stitches. The most complicated is working 3 Double Crochet into the same stitch. What? I couldnt even tell you how many times Ive worked that in a pattern. Theres an excellent set of charts, and I actually found that easier to follow than the written pattern.

I am amazed to find out that this is not made with a silk or bamboo yarn, or even a mercerized cotton.... it is made with a worsted weight yarn and an "H" hook! It looks much lighter weight than that. The design is beautiful, and it is hard to believe that it is as easy to make as she says it is. I have just the friend to gift this to. Thanks for sharing!

You know, you're right. It would be fabulous in bamboo or silk. I used regular worsted and it was clunkier than I would have liked.
