I cant believe that after all the many Owl hats Ive made using this pattern, I never thought to comment on it. If you cant tell by looking, this funny little hat gets compliments wherever it goes. It is so easy to work up and works well for tiny children as well as adults. I even adapted the basic pattern to create mascot hats for one of our local universities. If you work any sort of animal hat, you need this one in your repetoire.

This is probably still one of my favorite patterns Sarah Zimmerman has created. Its cute, easy and quick to work up. Every time someone see the hat they want one. Owls are really popular which makes this a great gift or charity project. This pattern is definitely free abd it isnt actually a download. It is posted to the blog.

Not sure how or where jjlongo got off track, but this pattern is available for free and you dont even have to join. The link takes you to the designers blog and there is where you can print or save the pattern. I have made one of the hats and the pattern was very easy to follow along to.

I like the fact that the pattern is free, but it is not really free because I have to join for a fee in order to down load and print the pattern and I am not in a position to do this. OH well I guess it is not totally free.

That's interesting because I just signed up about 3 weeks ago and I haven't paid for anything. I have a lot of free patterns from this site. Maybe you veered off onto an unrelated site.

Hi jjlongo, All the patterns on our site are free, though we do have some ads throughout. To access this pattern (and many other patterns on our sites), you simply click on the link text that says "Click here for free pattern" or "Click here for crochet pattern." This will take you directly to the pattern on the blogger's site. :) I hope this helps! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

Thank you for the pattern..i've never try this before n i cant wait to try it...

thank you for the pattern, I can't wait to make these. although, I had a lot of trouble to access the pattern and try to print it. The site was very slow, I had trouble just scrolling down to look at the pattern, not sure why. No problem with the AllFreeCrochet site.

I have made 7 of these, they are so cute and so easy to work up, even the sleepy looking one was not to hard. I'm using the same hat pattern for a lot of different looks. Thanks to who ever shared this pattern

Such easy patterns to follow. Only took an hour to make one newborn owl hat.

You don't have to pay to download it. I. Have made three already and they are ADORABLE...her patterns are awesome!

Omg i love it

Just made one and I love it!!!

You can only have this pattern if pay to download it

The pattern downloads for free; no problem. Can't wait to make them in all the different sizes for all the nieces and nephews. Thanks!
