If you're new to the wonderful world of crochet, then this is the perfect pattern for you. The Beginner's One Hour Cowl is super easy to make using just one ball of yarn. All you need to know is how to crochet a chain and how to double crochet. Before you know it, you'll have a gorgeous crocheted scarf to wear with any outfit. Three large buttons add a nice finishing touch, but this is optional.

I love this scarf, and how easy the pattern is to follow. I have a bunch of skeins of bulky yarn that will be perfect to make some of these scarves! If you are concerned with how it will look, if you are larger up top, you could use a smaller yarn. I may experiment with some of the many skeins I have collecting dust in my house.

I have to admit that I've been very hesitant about making or wearing a cowl due to how large I am. This one's drape ability however has me intrigued and I am reconsidering it. For that same reason I don't think I'll add any buttons to mine. I really like the idea of it being an easy crochet pattern too. I'll have to look at my wardrobe and determine what color to make it in although I'm leaning toward a sage green.

Made this - and I'm a seasoned beginner (I'm learning how to read patterns & do stitches via the internet) . Turned out great and I gave it as a birthday gift. Put my own spin on it by crocheting thru the back loop every other row and did add 2 big buttons. Will definitely make again.
