If you are a newbie to the Messy Bun Hat craze, this might be a good first project for you. Since this pattern doesnt use an elastic at the top, you dont have to work your first stitches around the band. The pattern uses Half Double Crochet, and once youve decided how long you want the hat, you switch to alternating Front and Back Post Double Crochet for the brim. The link to the suggested yarn no longer works, but since she suggests an L size hook, she probably meant a bulky yarn.

I love the way the colors blend together in this hat. The subtle hint of coral is really beautiful! I've been thinking of trying out the messy bun hat trend, and this looks like a nice one to start with!
