Spiral Scarf

search

If you're looking for a unique fashion accessory, work up the Spiral Scarf Crochet Pattern, a chunky scarf that spirals in on itself. This crochet scarf uses an autumn-hued variegated yarn for a color-change effect without the headache of dealing with multiple skeins of yarn. This simple scarf won't provide too much warmth, but it'll look great on a darker shirt or under a nice fall jacket. When following the designer's pattern, please note that the pattern is written in UK terms, so be aware that you'll need to make some crochet stitch substitutions as you work along.

The directions for this spiral scarf are really simple. There are only three lines of directions and I guess because the pattern repeats itself is what gives it the spiral shape. I guess only attempting to make the scarf will answer that question for me, unless someone else with more experience can verify that.

This is a really cute scarf. I am not really fond of the color selection. It puts me in the mind of a clowns collar. I would think something in a solid color would work best for me. It is a shame that the pictures on the directions page do not show. It could be because the post was from 2009.

Remember a UK treble is a US double crochet stitch

I did this but then ripped it out completely, and made 2 dc in 3rd chain on to the end, instead of one in each. I didn't trc at all. I used medium weight yarn/H hook and it came out ok. I think I will make another with changing color yarn and 3 dc in each? Or 3 and then two alternating... choices choices!!

Ok I have just made this scarf and mine do spiral but not a lot. I think it is to do with the tr on the first row, I am doing the first row as a single crochet row then the next will be tr, 2x tr, tr. work like that till end then the 3rd row will be tr in every chain. 4th row as second row. 5th row as 3rd... You just need to experiment with a sample before attempting to do the whole one saves a lot of pulling out or destroying it... let me know how you get on please

I also think there needs to be a revision to this pattern. Mine did not spiral either. It appears that each row needs to have more stitches added. Otherwise I like the scarf but was disappointed in the instructions.

Perhaps you should go back to the designer and have them correct their pattern. As it stands, the scarf will not spiral. They need to add more stitches for it to work correctly. Sorry. BTH

i love colors and shapes
