I lived in California for a while, and no, this isnt an exact duplicate of the famous state flower, but its probably close enough. Some flowers are easier to match than others, and if you look at her other offerings, youll see that she comes pretty close with most of her designs. This pattern, and some of the others, are available as free .pdf downloads, too.

I like to find pretty things that I can use to embellish my other projects. I make purses and baby clothes and this would be perfect. I can make a bunch up ahead and be ready when I need it. Try putting a pretty bead or button in the middle of it too.

I like to use up all my stash to make these small flowers and other tiny projects. They can be used in all sorts of ways- connect them with grosgrain ribbon or a simple chain to make strings of garland to hang on your mantel or windowsills...even use it as a curtain tie-back. You could also use them to embellish a cardi sweater, sew them to an elastic headband, or even hot glue a pin back that you buy from the craft store.

Um... hey? That's not a California poppy.
