Yellow Center:

  1. Using Daffodil.

    Make 1

Start with a slip knot and chain 2.

  2. Single crochet 6 in the first chain. You will not join with the slip stitch here.
Next, slip stitch, chain 4, slip stitch in the same stitch, chain 4, and then slip stitch. This will be repeated in each stitch.

You will have two chain 4 loops and 3 slip stitches per stitch.

  3. Repeat the previous step for the second chain.

  4. Fasten off by doing a slip stitch in the next space. Cut a long length of yarn and pull the tail all the way through. Then tighten.

To Assemble the Poinsettia crochet flower:

  1. Thread your yarn needle with red yarn.
Join the first 4 large red petals in the middle.

  2. Place a green leaf underneath the red petals, ends matching up with the ends in the middle. Use the yarn needle to go through the middle of all the petals and the leaf.
Push the remaining 2 green leaves onto the yarn needle in opposite directions.

  3. Pull the needle and yarn up through the back. Push the yarn needle through all 3 leaves and up through the front.
Your leaves and first layer of petals are now joined.

  4. Add the 4 remaining large petals using the needle and the red thread that should still be threaded on the needle.
Do this by pushing the needle through one end and pulling it down to the rest of the flower in the position you desire.

  5. Take your yarn needle and work through all the petals and leaves that have been added from front to back.

  6. Now do the same from back to front.

  7. To add the 4 medium petals, do the same as you did with the last 4 large petals. Use the needle to push through the ends and onto the flower in the appropriate places.

  8. Repeat this same process for the 4 small petals.

  9. With your needle, go back through the edges of every petal and leaf you have added through the bottom center. Go back from the back to the front doing the same.
Adjust the leaves and petals as needed.

  10. With your needle, go back through the center from front to back.
Cut your yarn and tie it in the back.
Change the color of your yarn in the needle to yellow using the tail from your center piece.

  11. Place the yellow centerpiece on the middle of your poinsettia. Push the needle through one place on the center, down, and through the back of the flower.

You will want to repeat this process three or four times to attach the center and secure the entire piece. Keep adjusting the petals and leaves as needed while you go.
Tie off and your flower is complete.

A couple of these would make a beautiful center piece for my table. I have a large square table when open and these will be attractive on either side of the flower arrangement. It just so happens I have the necessary materials to make this now so I have logging out and getting to work. I have the video on standby. Thanks for sharing.

Can you believe that it is already the end of October. If you want to have these as a part of your December decorations I suggest that you get right to it. The directions do not indicate the size of the finished project but it looks like a substantial piece in the hand of the designer. Any ideas for what it can be used for? The flower looks so soft and squishy.
