"With the success of the Pussy Hat Project and Women’s Marches I’ve decided to create a crocheted mini Pussy Hat Applique.This applique can be sewn onto clothing, made into a pin or glued onto a postcard. I plan on making several of these, adding them to postcards and send them to my political representatives. If you add to postcards you might need to affix extra postage. Can be made with multiple weights of yarns and hooks. Just follow the stitch counts."
Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Materials List
- 3 yards of worsted weight yarn (I used Lily Sugar n’ Cream yarn)

One of my cousins is active in politics, so Im going to make these into pins for her to pass out at rallies. The pattern is so simple I can make several in an hour. These would work well as a travel project, too. Of course, you can make the kitties in different colors for Halloween, too! Just add eyes and whiskers.

YES, we are more then our genitals! Women want to be respected, we need to respect ourselves. Women who walk around like a piece of meat for sale then cry about how women are treated need to take a step back...into history and see how real ladies are suppose to act and talk. These hats are an embarrassment to ladies, along with how talk and act. Very disappointed to see it here on allfreecrochet and will also rethink my subscription. All done thinking, drop me from your list.

Agree with sharphitman1 and Irish Angie...the pussy hat is offensive females who wore this hat to a march where they said they "honored" women just showed how little they think of women...we are more than our genitals. You can say it's cute make for your children or grandchildren, but you're perpetuating degradation of women. And I'm disappointed to find the pattern here...have to rethink my allegiance to allfreecrochet.com

This is inappropriate due to the political issue that this arises. This isn't anything resembling a kitten hat at all. Sorry, but, I don't see any reasons to chrochet a "pussy" and display it at all.

I really dont understand what is disgusting or inappropriate about this. The pussy hat is a symbol of the womans march and many people think of it fondly and as a sign of strength. Just because a persons political views differ, it doesnt change what others should or shouldnt like or want. Kitten (or Pussy) hats have been around forever. I have old pattern books from the early 1900s, and these hats are in them.

It's perfectly appropriate. If you have political objections, just don't make it. Freedom of choice is a marvelous thing. On the other hand, for those who want to try, it probably needs a lighter yarn and more delicate - amigurumi-quality - stitching, to be more attractive.
