Wow! It has been ages since I have seen a pattern that used sugar starch to stiffen the final project. My mom used that before she started to use Elmer's glue. I have some of her work that is still stiffened with the glue even after washing and boiling. Glue would be an alternative, just saying.

What a beautiful lacy lantern. I love that this item was stiffened and used as a "globe" for a light fixture. If only I had the ability to hang things from my ceiling. I appreciate all of the detailed pictures and even though this is considered advanced, any one with basic crochet knowledge should be able to create this.

We recently took a family member to the airport in a big city, so we were able to visit the IKEA store there. After losing our way inside the store a few times, we ended up in the Lighting section. This delicate pattern reminds me of the many offerings at the store. This is an advanced pattern, and I would suggest using a regular fabric stiffener rather than the sugar syrup method.
