  • Pink & Purple Version: #55-08 Fuchsia (A) – 2 balls, #55-12 Turquoise (B) – 1 ball, #55-14 Purple (C) – 1 ball, #55-11 Emerald (D) – 2 balls
  • Blue & Green Version: #55-16 Denim (A) – 2 balls, #55-10 Lime (B) – 1 ball, #55-12 Turquoise (C) – 1 ball, #55-11 Emerald (D) – 2 balls
  • Hook: US Size S-35 (19 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle, removable stitch marker

SIZE:
40" (102cm) across

GAUGE:
4 dc x 2 rows = 4”. Save time, check your gauge.

STITCH GUIDE:
Stripe Sequence:
1 ball B, 1 ball C, 2 balls D, 2 balls A.
Once you begin the striping pattern, use each color as indicated until it runs out.

RUG
With A, ch 3 sts, sl st to join in a ring.
Rnd 1: With A, sc into ring, [dc] 8 times into ring – 9 sts. Mark the first stitch of the round and begin working in a spiral. Move the marker as necessary throughout Rug to keep track of the beginning of the round. Work in the back loop only throughout the rug.
Rnd 2: With A, [2 dc] in each st – 18 dc.
Rnd 3: Begin Stripe Sequence. [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in next dc] 9 times – 27 dc.
Rnd 4: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc] 9 times – 36 dc.
Rnd 5: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc] 9 times – 45 dc.
Rnd 6: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 4 dc] 9 times – 54 dc.
Rnd 7: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 5 dc] 9 times – 63 dc.
Rnd 8: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 6 dc] 9 times – 70 dc.
Rnd 9: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 7 dc] 9 times – 81 dc.
Rnd 10: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 8 dc] 9 times – 90 dc.
Rnd 11: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 9 dc] 9 times – 99 dc.
Rnd 12: [(2 Dc) into next dc, dc in each of next 10 dc] 9 times – 108 dc.

When you have 18” left of the final ball, finish by working: hdc in the next dc, sc in the next dc, sl st in the next dc. Fasten off.

I wonder if the props were placed strategically to cover up the uneven ending of one color as you transition into the next? Surely it can't be perfect all the way around. That's just me, though. This playroom rug is STILL SO CUTE I can't stand it. I would love this in the kitchen, even. At the foot of the bed, too. Hey, I'm coming up with more ideas. I gotta go.

This would look great in our playroom.
