This is a nice basic bootie pattern, and the type of yarn itself is what sets it apart. Using chunky yarn allows it to be worked up quickly and with a minimum of fuss. I do wish there were more photos as the tiny one at the top of the instructions is not large enough. This isnt really needed for construction purposes, but rather to see the detail of the booties.

These cozy booties are originally from Red Heart, so I like to go straight to the source to see if I can find a download. I find it much easier to download to my own files, or I can print off to pass out to my crochet students. If youd like to access the pattern, the pattern number is WR1823 on the Red Heart site. The direct link to the download is available here http//www.redheart.com/free-patterns/crochet-cozy- == baby-booties

For beginning crocheters, Baby Cloud yarn is difficult to work with. It is difficult to see your stitches - so you are working more by feel. But, the yarn does make extremely soft, fluffy booties that will certainly keep those toes warm. 4 stars simply because of the yarn.

I've been crocheting a long time, but I don't understand the first round that says "turn to work along opposite side of beginning chain" Huh?

After stitching down one side of the beginning chain, you turn the chain around and continue stitching along the other side of the chain. When finished, you will have stitches on BOTH sides of the beginning chain - with the beginning chain in the middle. Hope this helps.

I found this pattern last week on the back of the paper around the skein of Red Heart 4 ply worsted yarn..... They turned out pretty well for the first time I ever crocheted baby booties!! I had made a baby blanket out of the same yarn in a basketweave stitch, with Red Heart Camo for the border.... ;) So the booties matched because I used the Camo for the drawstring!!

I made these before and they are NOT sized for 6-12months I would say 3 months is a much better size

I would agree, more for newborn to 3-month size.

Oh, and besides using a size smaller hook, I was also using 2 strands of yarn together for this. It was not hard at all.

You can adjust the size by adjusting your hook size. I wanted a newborn size but this pattern looked easy and I could not find my L hook so I used my K hook. From tip of toe to the heel they are 2 and 3/4 inches long.

Thank you for this reminder. I, too, am looking for a newborn pattern and loved the yarn used and the pattern!
