Start With a Foundation Puff Stitch
To make a Jasmine stitch, we’ll start by making foundation puff stitches. The puff stitch is also used to create the turning stitch when starting a new row.
Step 1
Make an SK with two strands of tint green yarn, then make two foundation CH. Next, PU the loop on your crochet hook to about 1 inch. All other loops on the FPS should also be PU to 1 inch.
Step 2
YO (6 loops on your crochet hook), then insert the crochet hook into the same CH, YO, PU a loop, and yarn over (10 loops on your crochet hook). Next, insert the crochet hook into the same CH, YO, and PU the loop to get 14 loops on your crochet hook.
Step 3
Use your thumb and middle finger to hold back the last loop on your hook then draw the loop through all 16 loops on your hook, holding the last strand from the previous step. Now, SC into the last loop in your middle finger CH 1.
Step 4
Make another FPS on CH 1, then more FPS up to 11 inches in length (15 PS in all). Your row 1 of FPS is now ready.
Make a Jasmine Stitch
To create the Jasmine Stitch, you'll start with the row of FPS you've just made.
Step 1
Add one more PS to the FPS, then make another PS, but do not PU the last loop through. To complete the stitch, keep the 16 loops on the hook, insert the crochet hook in the previous PS CH, and PU the loop. Continue making a PS, do not PU the last loop through.
Step 2
Make another PS in the next PS CH (16+16+16 = 48 loops) on the crochet hook then finish the Jasmine Stitch by holding back the last loop. Pull through all 48 loops, making it 52 loops in total. Bring it through one puff at a time, make SC and CH 1. One JS is now ready.
Row 1
Add 14 more JS to the end of the row to make 15 JS. Insert your hook on the CH 2 to complete the JS.
Row 2
Start a new row by making 1 FPS to enable you to create the turning stitch, then create 15 JS as in row 1.
