Helmet Cover:

Starting with purple, ch 4

  1. Round 1: 10 dc in the 4th ch from hook, sl st to first dc to join round (10 st)

  2. Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join round (20 st)

  3. Round 3: ch 2, (2 dc in next st, dc) 10 times, sl st to first dc to join round (30 st)

  4. Round 4: ch 2, (2 dc in next st, 2 dc) 10 times, sl st to first dc to join round (40 st)

  5. Round 5: ch 2, (2 dc in next st, 3 dc) 10 times, sl st to first dc to join round (50 st)

  6. Round 6: ch 2, (2 dc in next st, 4 dc) 10 times, sl st to first dc to join round (60 st)

  7. Round 7: ch 2, (2 dc in next st, 5 dc) 10 times, sl st to first dc to join round (70 st)

  8. Rounds 8-9: ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join round (70 st)

  9. Round 10: Change to grey, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join round (70 st)

  10. Rounds 11-12: ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join round (70 st)

  11. Rounds 13-14: ch 2, 30 dc, turn (30 st in short row)

  12. Round 15: ch 2, 30 dc (30 st in short row)
    Fasten off.  Weave in ends.

Drawstring:

  1. With grey, ch 100.

  2. Fasten off.  Weave in ends.

  3. Weave drawstring through the stitches along bottom edge of helmet cover.  Slip over helmet. Tighten until cover fits snugly.  Tie in a bow and tuck loose ends of drawstring inside the edge of cover.

Outer Ear: (make 2)

With purple, ch 10

  1. Round 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each ch across (8 st)

  2. Round 2: ch 2, dc 2 st tog, 4 dc, dc 2 st tog (6 st)

  3. Round 3: ch 2, dc 2 st tog, 2 dc, dc 2 st tog (4 st)

  4. Round 4: ch 2, (dc 2 st tog) 2 times (2 st)

  5. Round 5: ch 2, dc 2 st tog, without breaking yarn, sc around the edge of the triangle
    Fasten off.  Weave in ends.

Inner Ear: (make 2)

With grey, ch 8

  1. Round 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each ch across (6 st)

  2. Round 2: ch 2, dc 2 st tog, 2 dc, dc 2 st tog (4 st)

  3. Round 3: ch 2, (dc 2 st tog) 2 times (2 st)

  4. Round 4: ch 2, dc 2 st tog (1 st)
    Fasten off.  Weave in ends.

  5. Using grey, sew the Inner Ear piece to the center of the Outer Ear piece.
    Sew the finished ears to the helmet cover with purple yarn.
