Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)

MATERIALS:

  • Crochet Hook: 6mm [US J-10]
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • Red Heart Super Saver Chunky: 1 Ball each 905 Magenta A, 656 Real Teal B and 776 Dark Orchid C

GAUGE:
11 dc = 4”; 5 rows = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

SIZE:
Hat circumference at bottom edge: 21”

HAT:
With A, ch 56, slip st in first ch to join, taking care not to twist sts. Place marker for beginning of round.
Rounds 1-2: Ch 1 (counts as sc here and throughout), sc in each ch around, slip st in first st to join – 56 sc.
Rounds 3-6: Ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout), hdc in each sc around, slip st in top of beginning ch to join.
Rounds 7-8: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in each hdc around, slip st in top of beginning ch to join.
Round 9: Ch 3, working in back loops only, dc in each dc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.
Round 10: Ch 3, working in back loops only, dc in next 5 dc, skip next dc, [dc in next 6 dc, skip next dc] 7 times around, slip st in top of beginning ch – 48 dc.
Round 11: Ch 2, hdc in next dc, skip next dc, [hdc in next 2 dc, skip next dc] 15 times, slip st in top of beginning ch – 32 hdc.
Rounds 12-13: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.
Round 14: Ch 2, [skip next hdc, hdc in next hdc] around, skip last hdc, slip st in top of beginning ch – 16 hdc.
Round 15: Ch 1, [skip next hdc, sc in next hdc] around, skip last hdc, slip st in top of beginning ch – 8 sc.
Round 16: Work in continuous rounds. [sc in next sc, skip next sc] around until 1 st remains. Fasten off.

Right Scarf
Row 1: With right side facing, count 5 sts to left of first st on Round 1, join A and ch 3, dc in next 12 sc – 13 dc.
Rows 2-3: Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc across.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn, [dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc] 5 times, dc in last 2 dc.
Row 5: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 space, [ch 1, dc in next ch-1 space] 4 times, dc in last 2 dc.
Row 6: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc, [ch 1, dc in next ch-1 space] 4 times, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in last 2 dc.
Rows 7-24: Repeat Rows 5-6.
Row 25: Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc and ch-1 space across – 13 dc.
Row 26: Ch 4 (counts as tr here and throughout), turn, tr in next dc, [ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st] 5 times, tr in las t st.
Rows 27-39: Ch 4, turn, [tr in next tr, ch 1] 5 times, tr in last 2 tr.
Row 40: Change to B, ch 3, turn, in each tr and ch-1 space across, turn – 13 dc.
Row 41: Change to C, ch 3, turn, working in back loops only, dc in each dc across – 13 dc.
Row 42: Change to A, ch 3, turn, working in front loops only, dc in each dc across. Fasten off

Left Scarf
Row 1: With right side facing, count 18 sts to right of first st on Round 1, join A and ch 3, dc in next 12 sc – 13 dc. Repeat Rows 2-42 as for Right Scarf.
Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Trim
With right side facing, join B in last st on Hat before beginning of one Scarf, sc evenly spaced along each edge ,of Scarf and Hat, slip st in first st to join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
