Vintage Blossom Crochet Scarf

The Vintage Blossom Crochet Scarf is crocheted with luxury yarn, has a fabulous vintage look and a lighter weight drape, perfect for warmer months when you need a little something or in cooler months as a beautiful accessory scarf. This is a fabulous easy crochet pattern that only requires one skein of yarn. You'll love the ruffled edges and the rose addition giving it that feminine look.

Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook

Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • 1 Skein Hat Box by Mrs. Crosby (colorway shown: “Midnight Aubergine”)
  • G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
Sizing:
  • Scarf: 3 inches wide and 32 inches long
  • Blossom: 2.5 inches across

Instructions Main Scarf Rectangle: 
Note: Scarf is crocheted as a lengthwise rectangle and ruffles are added to either end.  Blossom is sewed on at the end (see next section for blossom instructions)
  1. Ch 120
  2. Row 1: In the fourth ch from the hook, work a dc.  Work a dc in each ch across.
  3. Row 2: Ch 3 and turn.  Work a dc in each st across, and in the top st of the t-ch at the end of the row.
  4. Row 3: Repeat row 2
  5. Row 4: Repeat row 2
  6. Row 5: Ch 3 and turn.  Work a dc in the first 20 sts, then ch 10.  skip 10 sts, then work a dc in each of the remaining sts.
  7. Row 6: Ch 3 and turn.  Work a dc in each st until you get to the ch 10 from the previous row.  In each of these chains, work a dc.  Work a dc in each of the remaining sts.
  8. Row 7: Repeat row 2
  9. Row 8: Repeat row 2, and fasten off.
 
Instructions for Ruffled Edges:
  1. Row 1: Tie yarn into corner of one of the scarf ends and ch 3.  Work a dc in the same space.  Work 2 dc in each space across. (Note: On this row spaces are formed from the posts of each dc when scarf was worked lengthwise)
  2. Row 2: Ch 3 and turn.  Work a dc in first st, then 2 dc in each st across.  Work 2 dc in t-ch.
  3. Repeat row 2 twice more and fasten off.
  4. Repeat for other end of scarf.

Instructions for Blossom:
  1. Ch 16
  2. Row 1: In the 4th ch from the hook, work 2 dc.  Work 3 dc in each ch across.
  3. Row 2: Ch 3 and turn.  Work 2 dc in the first st.  Work 3 dc in each st across and 3 dc in t-ch.  Fasten off.
  4. Blossom will begin to coil as you work.  Following this natural coil, keep tails intact and use them to stitch flower together with a tapestry needle.  Do not weave tails in yet and proceed to assembly instructions below.

Finishing & Assembly: 
  1. Using a piece of matching yarn, sew blossom to scarf just to the left of the keyhole area.  Weave in all ends.
