My Sweetheart Crochet Scarf

This Valentine's Day, crochet a cozy, warm scarf for your sweetie. The My Sweetheart Crochet Scarf is an all-white scarf with dark pink borders and a row of dark pink crochet hearts running down the middle row. This is an easy pattern to work up and only features a small number of color changes, so even if you're nervous about switching colors, you'll soon get super comfortable with it. This pattern comes in child and adult sizes and features simple crochet stitches so anyone can work this up!

  • Worsted weight yarn such as Red Heart Super Saver
  • 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain the gauge
  • yarn needle for weaving in ends

Pattern

  1. Child  ( 50" long x 4.5" wide )
     
    With Main Color - Chain 155
    Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and each chain to end, turn (154)
    Row 2 - 4: Make an alt-ch in first stitch, dc in next stitch and each stitch to end, turn (154)
    Row 5: Sc in first stitch and in each stitch to end, turn (154)
    Leave Main Color attached for carrying to Round 7 and join Accent Color in the 2nd stitch of the row.
    Row 6: Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, in next stitch make a Shell Stitch (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc), *ch 2, skip 4 stitches, Shell Stitch in next stitch* repeat between * to end, after last Shell is made ch 2 and sl st in 2nd last stitch of the row, fasten off (30 Shell Stitches)
    Go back to the beginning of the row and pick up the Main Color.
    Row 7: Make an alt-ch in first stitch, dc in next st, dc-cl in next stitch, *ch 2, sc in ch-1 space of Shell Stitch, ch 2, dc in the 2nd skipped stitch from previous round, dc in next stitch* repeat between * until 4 stitches remain, ch 2, skip next stitch, dc-cl in next stitch, dc in last 2 stitches, turn
    Row 8: Sc in the first 3 stitches, make 1 sc in the ch-2 space, sc in the next stitch, make 1 sc in the next ch-2 space, sc in the next 2 stitches* repeat from * to the end, sc in last 3 stitches, turn (154)
    Row 9 - 11: Make an alt-ch in first stitch, dc in next stitch and each stitch to end, turn (154)
    Row 12: Sc in each stitch to the end, fasten off and turn (154)
    Row 13: Attach Accent Color in the first stitch of the row and sc across, fasten off (154)
    Row 14: Attach Accent Color to the opposite edge with the foundation chain and sc across, fasten off (154)
    Attach tassels if desired.

    Leave Main Color attached for carrying to Round 8 and join Accent Color in the 2nd stitch of the row.
