How to Crochet a Super Bulky Scarf

Learn how to work with super bulky yarn and a large crochet hook to crochet a super bulky scarf just in time for this winter. This super bulky crochet scarf is only 9 stitches wide because of how thick the yarn is, so you can work up a long scarf (maybe even a super scarf) in just one evening, depending on how fast you crochet.

Crochet HookQ or 16mm hook

Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)

Pattern

  1. Ch 11.

  2. Dc in second ch from hook and then all the way across. 

  3. Ch 2 to turn, then dc in each dc below it.

  4. Repeat step 3 until your scarf is as long as you want it.

Tips and Tricks for Making a Super Bulky Scarf

  • Make sure you have the right hook - size S was used for this
  • Choose a super bulky yarn or hold multiple strands of worsted weight together to get the bulk up.
  • Simple stitch patterns are best due to the bulkiness of the yarn - single or double crochet.
  • Hold your hook a little more towards end to help prevent hand fatigue.
