  • Bernat® Maker Fashion™ (3.5 oz/100 g; 126 yds/115 m): Contrast A Gray (06008) 3 balls; Contrast B Yellow (06005) 1 ball
  • Size U.S. K/10½ (6.5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain tension.
  • Approx 150 pony beads.

Bag Pattern

  1. With A, ch 31.

  2. 1st rnd: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to last ch. 3 sc in last ch. Working across opposite side of foundation ch, 1 sc in each ch to last ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join. 62 sts

  3. 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 28 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 28 sc. 2 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join. 68 sc. 

  4. 3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 31 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 31 sc. 2 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join. 74 sc. 

  5. 4th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 34 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 34 sc. 2 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join. 80 sc. PM at end of rnd. Beg working in spirals (do not join at end of rnd). 

  6. 5th rnd: 1 sc in each sc around. Rep last rnd until work from marked rnd measures 4" [10 cm]. 

  7. Next rnd: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 18 sc. Rep from * around. Join. 76 sc. 

  8. Next 3 rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join. Rep last 4 rnds twice more, having 1 st less between decs on each dec rnd. 68 sts. Fasten off.

Fringe

  1. Cut strands of B 20" [51 cm] long. Fold in half and knot into fringe around top edge of Bag, working around posts of sts of last rnd. Trim fringe evenly. Thread 1 bead onto each strand of fringe, knotting end to secure. 

Edging rnd:

  1. (RS). Join 2 strands of A with sl st to last row at top of Bag. Sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

Handle

  1. With 2 strands of A held tog, ch 56. Sl st in back “bump” of 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Fasten off. Sew to bag as shown in diagram below.
