How to Crochet this Afghan:

  • Afghan is worked in one piece with 2 strands of yarn held together.
  • Before beginning, wind just one of the skeins into 2 balls so that you have an even number of strands.
  • Pattern stitch can be worked by following written instructions or the diagram.
  • An edging is worked along the long side edges of the finished piece.

  1. With 2 strands of yarn held together, ch 67.

  2. Row 1: V-st in 5th ch from hook (4 skipped ch count as 1 base ch and first dc), *sk next 2 ch, V-st in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in last ch – at the end of Row 1, you will have 21 V-sts and 1 dc at beg and end.

  3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, V-st in each ch-1 sp across, dc in top of beg ch.

  4. Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm) from beg.

  5. Fasten off.

Finishing

  1. Join 2 strands of yarn with a sl st in any corner so that you are ready to work along a long side edge. Ch 1, work sc evenly spaced along the long side edge.

  2. Fasten off.

  3. Rep edging across opposite side edge.

  4. Weave in ends.
